What I Mean When I Say I’ve Been Writing Forever

I’m not bragging, but my first attempts at writing were adorable!

Yesterday I read a Medium article with tips and tricks, you know, the ones we try not to click on but we can’t resist, it’s inevitable? One of the tips suggested writing about writing, our own experience of writing, because it’s unique. I've never really been one for writing about writing, a quick look at my 100+ posts on here is enough to show that, yet it has a certain appeal. It means I can write about my own experience, something no one can argue with and that I have total control over, which appeals to me a lot right now.

So fuck it, let’s talk about my first attempt at writing a novel!

At the end of Infant School (God I’m old, it means I was 6 years old), we were all given certificates as we moved on to Juniors and mine said that I was destined to be great at English and Art. Now, my art skills haven’t improved since that age, in spite of my best efforts, but I did go on to get an English degree so one out of two isn’t bad. At that age, I was already writing stories but I did so in the form of storyboards or basic eight-panel comics. I moved on to fully written short stories soon after, and then at age nine, it began — my epic first novel.
